The workshop organized by BluoVerda, an educational organization of the diaspora based in Dresden, gave participants the opportunity to rethink their food choices and their impact on the environment. Using engaging, hands-on materials, we all took a close look at a typical plate and calculated the ecological footprint of our meals—including CO₂ emissions, water use, and land use. This exercise opened our eyes and reminded us of the benefits of eating seasonally and locally, and, when possible, choosing organic products.

As part of the workshop, we also learned about creative ways to reduce food waste, such as the initiatives Foodsharing and Die Tafel.

An important insight from our discussion was the consensus that, while individual food choices matter, real progress primarily depends on changes at the institutional and political levels. The participants agreed that companies and governments must enact policies and regulations that support environmentally friendly food practices.

Overall, the workshop was an informative and motivating experience that provided all participants with both practical tips and a broader perspective on how our daily choices contribute to the health of our planet.
