We are all Humans: Virtual Reality (Czech Republic, Moravec)

bis 25. September 24
From October 6th to 14th, 2024, the historic town of Sighisoara, Romania, welcomed youth workers from across Europe for the first part of the “Talking about Conflicts” Training Course, dedicated to communication skills. Held at the scenic Burg Hostel, participants from Germany, Spain, Romania, Greece, and France gathered to learn, connect, and develop essential skills in assertive communication, active listening, and collaborative decision-making.
The week was filled with immersive workshops, hands-on exercises, and interactive games, all designed to foster effective communication in both personal and professional settings. The participants took advantage of Sighisoara’s charming surroundings, enhancing their learning experience with walks and outdoor activities around the town’s medieval landmarks. Together, they explored practical ways to communicate non-violently, bridging cultural backgrounds, and strengthening interpersonal skills.
Under the expert guidance of trainers Thomas Desset and Alba Llucia, the sessions moved from theory to practical applications, emphasizing methods for assertive communication, deep listening, and empathetic interaction. The participants shared stories, best practices, and unique insights, creating a space that celebrated diverse perspectives and emphasized collaboration and understanding.
Special thanks are extended to Burg Hostel for the warm hospitality and to photographer Alexandru Raw for capturing the week’s highlights. Maxime’s creative comics added a playful touch, visually representing the key takeaways from each session. Our local partner, Agoje, particularly through the efforts of Ionut Barb, provided vital support, along with precious contributions from the other international partners: Hopeland, EnVies EnJeux, and Nexes Intercultural. A big thank you go also to the local NGOs who presented us with their work: Associatia AUM, who hosts ESC volunteers and does great community work, and Pro-Etnica, which organizes every year the biggest inter-ethnic festival of the country, if not of all Europe to bride different cultural minority groups and generate respect and understanding.
This enriching experience was made possible through Erasmus+ co-funding from the European Union, promoting the values of teamwork, youth empowerment, and conflict resolution. Stay tuned for the next phase of this training series as we continue to empower young people across Europe with skills to manage conflicts and foster unity.
